Three effective eye exercises - complimentary

Everyone, the world over, is spending more and more time in front of screens – computer screens, TV monitors, tablets, displays – every bit of information is accessed through some kind of screen. And, this dependence can only increase ….

Sit comfortably, eyes closed, facing the sun and in a position where the sun’s rays touch your eyelids. Here, in the tropics, where we are at the moment, the early morning sun is best – its heat scorches as the day progresses. Let the sun warm your eyes for 25 seconds, or so, then turn your head slowly to one side, presenting a lateral view to the sun. Repeat on the other side. As you turn your head side to side, each eye/side gets warmed by the sun, as the other goes into the shade. Repeat this set of movements 3 times, slowly and steadily, taking about 25 seconds to complete both sides. Stop and face the sun frontally for about 10 seconds. This entire movement should be repeated 3/4 times. Approx. 3 minutes of sunning is ideal, however, make sure that it is a gentle sun, and never stare into the sun (ALWAYS keep your eyes closed).

Push Ups for the Eyes: Hold a pencil in a vertical position, level with your face, with arm extended. Move it slowly toward your nose, holding your gaze on the point of the pencil. The objective is to be able to see 2 images of the pencil as you move the pencil back and forth. Not only does this exercise strengthen the eye muscles, it will help prevent eyestrain and may eliminate the floating print that can occur when your eyes are tired.

The convergence ability of your eyes (that is, the ability of both eyes to focus on the same object), so necessary for good vision, is maximised through practice of the 3-Cups exercise. For us it has been a most effective eye exercise and you can try out this eye workout here right now.
