Free of Tinnitus Naturally

If you live with tinnitus you know what an annoying condition it can be. Swooshing or ringing sounds in your ear; noises in your head that are audible to you only much of the time… at times you wonder whether you’re going mad! But apart from the annoyance factor, tinnitus can sometimes be a symptom of a more serious problem. So its important to have it attended to very quickly.

Although it’s next to impossible to guard against the noise that assaults us from every side, there are some preventative measures that are advised.

  • Protect your hearing at work by using ear-plugs. Most work places today follow the guidelines of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Do not place objects in your ear such as cotton swabs or Q-tips to clean your ear. This can cause wax impaction against your eardrum and build up to tinnitus.
  • Control your blood pressure level. Meditation is a holistic and effective way to deal with stress and high blood pressure. Always consult your doctor on these issues.
  • Avoid activities that generate bothersome sounds. Even everyday noises, as generated by a hairdryer or a lawnmower, can cause discomfort. Use ear plugs or muffs whenever possible.
  • Ambient noise can drown out bothersome sounds. For instance, when in bed, the quiet may heighten your awareness of the sounds in your ear. In such cases a competing sound such as a ticking clock, a radio or a whirring fan will help mask tinnitus. There are also devices which generate a competitive sound, which may help reduce the awareness of the tinnitus.

An effective way of dealing with tinnitus is to take a holistic approach. Drugs and risky surgeries to treat tinnitus sometimes work in a partial way, depending on the type and severity of the tinnitus. We would say that before you consider an extreme surgical procedure try the strategy developed by a nutritionist, and former sufferer, who has by trial and error, become free of Tinnitus naturally.

Good deal… here’s 5 tips that will help you along…

TIP 1

Ditch The Starch

Starches, such as rice, potatoes, some root vegetables, oats, etc. are often considered “health foods.”

While they can be healthy, they can also pack on stomach bodyfat if you eat too much of them.

As you may know, my “Every Other Day Diet” System (EODD) actually encourages you to eat starches, and even sweets,

several days a week TO GET RID of excess weight.

Weight Loss

(Some of you may see a survey here on how best to help with your bodyweight goals)

Well… how does THAT work?

Simple:  Timing is everything.

And we take a “weekly” approach to foods rather than a “daily approach”. This keeps your metabolism guessing. If

your body cannot figure out what you’re up to, fatburning is that much more powerful. And you can get by with

eating starches… at least at specific times on specific days.

But if you’re not going to do EODD, then you’ll have to wing it. And the best way to wing it is to simply cut

starches out entirely for 4 to 8 weeks. Then slowly add them back a few days per week.

This is nowhere near as effective (or as fun) as the EODD method, but it will get you pointed in the right

direction.

TIP 2

Can The Sodas

This one is really hard for me. I’ve been hooked on diet-soda on and off for years. When I go to get into top shape

(like I am now) I have to get rid of the diet-sodas… yes, DIET-sodas. Need I say “real” sodas too? They are

loaded with sugar.

Why diet-sodas? A recent study revealed that people who drank diet-sodas actually increased bodyfat when compared

to those who drank sugar-sodas. What the… ??

Yep. Your body cannot be fooled by aspartame and chemicals. Sorry, but that’s the truth.

Here’s a personal story:  When I cut out the diet-sodas, my bodyfat drops like a rock in a pond of clear water.

And that’s what you need to be drinking:  A quart of pure water per 50 lbs of bodyweight a day.

I mix it with lemon and a bit of Stevia (an herbal sweetener) and make lemonade. It’s wonderful!

TIP 3

Stay Hungry

Arnold’s first movie was “Stay Hungry” (well, after “Pumping Iron” that is). You cannot rest on your butt and stay

hungry. You cannot think you’ve “arrived” and stay hungry.

It takes a special person to be hungry… and an even greater one to stay that way.

I want you to stay hungry in two ways:  In how you workout and literally… stay a bit hungry before you go to bed.

Not “starving”… just a bit hungry.

For your workouts, I have a great solution. If you pick up EODD you’ll get a limited shot at “7 Minute Body”… my

combination of “7 Minute Muscle” and “The 7 Minute In-Home Workout” in one book… and for more than half off…

but that’s a very limited deal. Gotta have EODD… you’ll need them both…

Lose Weight

You see, progression — “forced” progression — is the best way to stay hungry. 7 Minute Body forces you to

progress without thinking about it. Progression is built into the System.

As for as staying hungry at night? Check with your doctor and if he/she okays it, take 500mg of potassium and

1000mg of magnesium/calcium a few hours prior to bed. This helps with the hunger pangs. Also, keep hard-boiled eggs

in the fridge. If you get really hungry, eat one with half the yolk (toss the other half) It keeps me full for an

hour at least.

TIP 4

Cardio Clarity

Hours and hours of cardio a day is not the answer. However, you can do “light” cardio (i.e. brisk walking, or

riding the bike at 60% of your max) just to burn off calories. That’s okay… and personally I don’t find it that

boring if I’m watching a TV show. It does not interfere with my main fatloss exercise (weight training… YES!) and

it burns off about 400 calories an hour.

What does work is early morning fasting cardio… but you only need 9-15 minutes. I explain the GXP Protocol

TIP 5

Get Raw At Night

Raw veggies with your last meal and as a snack will really help your fatburning along. I started with red peppers

because they’re sweet. Now I eat virtually every veggie raw at night without thinking about it. Give this a shot.

Sprouts - the nutritional powerhouse

A balanced diet, with accent on the nutritional properties of the foods you eat, is an essential keep-healthy measure. * Always keep a supply of nutrition-packed foods in your refrigerator at all times

* Fresher is better, so start off the growing cycle more frequently for continuous supply

Firm up sagging chin and neck

I recently saw an ad on TV that was marketing a curious device.

The claim was it would tone the neck and firm up the chin.

The cost was around $20 + S&H.

I knew immediately that it would work!

How so?

Well, it was spring-loaded to offer resistance, so it used the principle of isometrics, which is very effective.

If you’re a baby boomer, you’ll remember Charles Atlas with his perfectly sculpted body. He used isometrics (without devices).

You can do the same for your neck and chin using this improvisation on the $20 device- at no cost!

Try this extremely fast-working exercise:

Tilt your chin up as far as it will comfortably go (as though you’re looking at a fly on the ceiling). Clench your left fist and place it under your chin.

Now push down with your chin while resisting with your fist, until your chin touches your collarbone. Then push your chin back up to its original upward tilting position, resisting against the pressure.

Repeat with your right fist.

Don’t strain yourself - you can increase the resistance as your neck strengthens over the weeks.

Two repetitions with each fist is enough at first. You will see excellent results literally within days!

London bus towed by brute hair strength

Well, he would probably call it a good hair day!

On November 12, 59 year old Britisher, Manjit Singh, pulled a 8.5 tonnes double-decker London bus - with his hair - for a distance of 21.2 metres (69 feet 7 inches) across Battersea Park in London, to set a new Guiness World Record. On another occasion he had displayed equally impressive hair strength by pulling a double-decker with 30 people aboard for 256 feet using only his ponytail!

There’s no doubt he has exceptionally strong hair roots by any standards, and I’d love to know more about his hair-care regimen. Nor does he seem to have hair loss problems

According to Wikipedia, Manjit Singh a strongman originally from India moved to the U.K in 1977, and is a serial breaker of Guinness World Records, holding 32 at last count. As impressive as his hair are his teeth for he has in the past made the news for pulling an empty double-decker bus over 55 feet with his strong and healthy teeth.

We wish Manjit every success and hope he goes from strength to strength.

H1N1 Virus

Everyone is apprehensive about contracting the H1N1 virus!

Result:

-Long line-ups at clinics for vaccinations to protect themselves and their families.

-Rumours floating around about a shortage of vaccines.

-Heated arguments over whether the vaccine is effective or not.

This morning I was reading an article in the Toronto Star by Judy Gerstel on the H1N1 virus. And she mentions that the virus enters the body through the nose, and then spreads into the lower airways. After that, the strength of your immune system determines whether you get infected.

It was then that an idea struck me that I felt impelled to share with you. The idea: Keep your nose clean to stave off H1N1.

Whether or not you plan on taking the vaccination when it becomes available, this preventive measure will help you to keep it at bay.

In India, people are fastidious about the cleanliness of their nasal passages. This is one reason the streets are not always clean (if you get my drift!). The frequent honking heard is not always from cars!

The populations’ morning ablutions generally include inhaling water up their nostrils, and then expelling the water, together with the contents. Including germs!

This practice is advocated in Yoga too.

So try this to fight off H1N1:

Method 1 - Inhale a palmful of comfortably hot water into your nostrils. Inhale just high enough up your airway passage so you don’t choke, and then forcefully exhale the water. Repeat three times. Inhale up both nostrils simultaneously, so that it won’t matter if one is blocked.

Method 2 - Take a mouthful of the hot water, and tilt your head back. Begin to gargle deep in your throat, and then expell the water through your nose. You may find this difficult to do at first, but it becomes easy with practice. I can vouch for that!

Make a practice of doing this (either method) every morning. You’ll feel good, and breathe easier knowing you’re flushing away nasty germs.

I’d be very surprised if you reported getting any flu, while awaiting vaccination or not, if you do this daily.

In any case, always follow your doctor’s advice.

Banish dark circles & under-eye puffiness

Under-eye circles and puffiness look ugly and can mar even the most youthful and perfect face. Unfortunately, the under eye area is very vulnerable to aging as the skin under the eyes is thin and delicate.

As you age, the fat pad under the eyes thins out causing the skin to bag and the under-eye blood vessels to become more noticeable. Factors such as lack of sleep (or too much), dehydration (or fluid retention), poor diet, hay fever and allergies, certain medications (and certain medical conditions) - or even your genetics - can cause the problem.

The following steps could help reduce these dark patches.

Sleep is a must - 7/8 hours are essential. Drink enough water and make sure your diet includes generous helpings of green vegetables.

A yoga asana - ‘the inversion pose’ can be extremely helpful if you’re supple enough or a yoga practitioner. Alternatively, try lying down on the floor and raising your legs at right angles to your body. It’s okay to use the wall or any vertical support to prop your legs up at right angles. Hold this pose for a few minutes, breathing normally. Start with half a minute and build up to three.

There are also some commercial formulas that are known to be effective. Moisturizing emollients and natural ingredients help counter moisture loss and the appearance of skin pigmentation -the characteristics of dark under-eye circles.

Direct application of cucumber juice can also work in the long term. Grate raw cucumber without peeling and apply the extracted juice on the dark or puffy under-eye area. Wash off after 15 minutes.

Regular Dental Check-up

It happened again! Two years flashed by before I remembered that a visit to the dentist was long overdue, even though we’re great advocates of the 6-monthly check-up for everyone else.

Carrot Poultice Recipe to Revive the Lymph Glands

A few days ago I (Roshmi) woke up feeling listless & achy with a distinctly sore area on the right side of my throat. Recalling a mailing we’d received a while ago from NaturalNews I decided to use a carrot poultice on my throat. Carrots are said to have a cleansing effect on the lymph glands (some of which are in the throat area). A carrot poultice, originally devised by Dr. John Bastyr, can be used to draw toxins out of the body. Poultices can be made of carrots only or a mixture of carrots and ginger. I used a combination of carrots and ginger, followed the recipe exactly, lay back with the poultice wrapped around my throat, and fell asleep for about three hours. When I awoke the sore feeling was gone and I was feeling much better – almost normal, in fact.

When sick, the body’s natural defence mechanisms kick in and manufacture white blood corpuscles. These blood cells battle the germs and viruses in the blood and are killed. The dead cells are filtered through the lymph system and sent to the bladder or colon for excretion. Sometimes, when ill, your lymph system can get overloaded and unable to cope with the volume of debris, leading to a slow down in the rate of filtration. That achy feeling symptomatic of illness may be caused by stagnant lymph. A carrot poultice is very stimulating to the lymph system and gets it moving again.

To prepare a poultice you will need 1lb grated fresh carrots (save the juice as well as the pulp), one sheet of cheesecloth and a 2-inch piece of fresh ginger (if you want a carrot-ginger mix). Place the grated carrots and juice in the center of the cheesecloth and fold the cloth over the contents into a package long and wide enough to wrap around the throat (4 inches x 8 inches should do it). Wrap the poultice around your neck and lie down. Place an old towel or cloth under your head and neck to prevent staining the bed sheets. The cloth will become hot, drawing heat from your neck. Rest for at least a half an hour or longer.

You can reuse the poultice for 12-24 hours if you refrigerate between uses.

Raw cruciferous vegetables & Bladder cancer

Eating just three small servings of raw cruciferous vegetables per month, such as broccoli and cabbage, has been found to decrease the risk of developing bladder cancer by upto 40 percent, is the conclusion reached by researchers from the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. The study is one of several that has added to the evidence that raw fruits and vegetables dramatically lower cancer risk.

However, the researchers did not find a protective benefit from eating the same quantity of cooked cruciferous vegetables. This suggests that the anti-cancer properties of cruciferous vegetables are destroyed by cooking.

Cruciferous vegetables are widely consumed in the world, accounting for 10 of the most popular vegetable foods. The family includes cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower, arugula, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, daikon, garden cress, horseradish, kale, kohlrabi, mustard, radish, rape (canola), rapini, rutabaga, tatsoi, turnip, wasabi and watercress.

These vegetables are known to be high in important nutrients such as vitamin C and selenium. They also contain hundreds of plant compounds that are known to fight cancer, including isothiocyanates.

Isothiocyanates inhibit both cancer and tumor development by directly blocking the carcinogenic action of free radicals. They prevent free radicals from attacking healthy cells and turning them cancerous.
