Portion control plates aid weight loss

Posted by youngaga On September - 28 - 2007Comments Off

Hello there.

Here is an interesting idea for those of you who want to lose some weight.

A recent study at the University of Calgary has shown that, for people trying to lose weight, portion-control dinnerware may be the secret to success.

Researchers enrolled 130 obese patients with Type 2 diabetes to try out a portion-control plate, a commercially available piece of dinnerware designed to aid in weight loss. It has different sized sections on the plate divided into protein, starch and vegetables.

They followed these patients for six months, and used a control group receiving the usual dietary instruction for comparison.

Researchers found that patients using the special plate lost significantly more weight than those in the control group, the average being about 2.1 kg of weight loss in the plate group and 0.1 kg in the control group.

As well, 26% of participants using the plate were able to reduce their diabetes medication after six months, compared to just 11% in the control group.

You can try the same idea by mentally dividing your plate into imaginary sections – a larger section for vegetables and smaller sections for the protein and starch. Then STICK TO IT AND NO SECOND PORTIONS!

Selenium can reduce Cancer risk

Posted by youngaga On September - 27 - 2007Comments Off

Welcome back!

Below are extracts of important anti-cancer health information from an article by Dan Robey.

Make it a habit to take 200 Mcg of Selenium every day and you can

help to reduce your risk for developing certain cancers.

Selenium is an essential trace mineral; it is also a powerful antioxidant.

Selenium helps to protect cells against the effects of free radicals.

Numerous studies have shown that selenium can help reduce the risk of cancer:

* A study in Finland showed that men who had low levels of selenium in

their bodies were more then three times more likely to develop

lung cancer then men who had high levels.

* Research in the United States has shown that the States

that had the lowest levels of the mineral selenium in their soil

had the highest levels of cancer.

* A study that was published in the Journal of the American

Medical Association showed that selenium supplementation led to

a  50% reduction in cancer mortality including breast and

lung cancers.

An excellent  natural source of selenium is the Brazil nut.

Sunshine Cuts the Risk of Breast Cancer

Posted by youngaga On September - 27 - 2007Comments Off

Hi there!

Did you know that, according to new research, sunlight could help women in the fight against breast cancer?

Experts have warned that spending too much time in the sun can increase the risk of developing skin cancer. But women who avoid sunlight altogether are putting themselves at greater risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The majority of vitamin D comes from exposure of the skin to sunlight, but many women are deficient.

There has been anecdotal evidence to suggest that breast cancer is less common among women who live closer to the Equator, where the sunshine is stronger.

And  a new study provides the firmest evidence yet that,  if she has passed menopause, the lower the levels of vitamin D in a woman’s blood-stream, the greater the risk of her developing breast cancer.

Of more than 1,000 women who took part in a trial, those who were given both calcium and vitamin D supplements had less than half the chance of developing breast cancer than those given a placebo.

A team of researchers from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, enrolled 1,179 women all 55 or older, who had no history of cancer.

Divided randomly into groups, the women were given either supplements of calcium alone, calcium plus vitamin D or a placebo for four years.

When the researchers repeated the analysis for those women who were free of cancer after the first year of the study, the results were even more striking, with the risks being reduced by more than three-quarters.

“Our findings of decreased all-cancer risk with improved vitamin D status are consistent with a large and still-growing body of data showing that cancer risk, cancer mortality, or both are inversely associated with solar exposure, vitamin D status or both,” the researchers said.

“Findings from this study suggest that higher intakes of calcium and vitamin D may be associated with a lower risk of developing premenopausal breast cancer.”

Vitamin D is also present in foods including milk, eggs, oily fish, and green vegetables.

Interesting information, ladies, and an incentive to spend a little time in the sunshine daily.

Deodorant and Breast Cancer

Posted by youngaga On September - 22 - 2007Comments Off

Hi there.

We read an extremely informative article by Jerome Burne, M.D. on this vital subject.  We believe everybody, women and men, should be aware of this.

Here is the gist of it.

New research suggests that the aluminium in many anti-perspirants has a potential link with breast cancer. A leading breast cancer specialist suggests avoiding these products.

All women, whether they have had breast cancer or not, should consider not using antiperspirants or deodorants.

Giving up using deodorant could be as effective in reducing cancer risk as a diet rich in disease-preventing antioxidants.

Women who are careful about eating enough fruit and vegetables to protect their health, then cover their armpits every day with chemicals that mimic estrogen, the cancer-promoting hormone.

Though a direct link with cancer has not been established, the doctor’s view on deodorants is based on the available evidence and informed common sense.

A recent study at Keele University found that the aluminium salts used to block the pores so you don’t perspire can get into breast tissue.

Worryingly, these salts are more concentrated in the areas of the breast where cancer is more likely to develop … on the side and towards the armpit.

This study follows on from one done two years ago at the University of Reading, which showed aluminium salts can behave like estrogen in the body.

This study also found that the preservative parabens used in these products have also been found in breast cancers.

Apparently, the more often women use anti-perspirants or deodorants (which make you smell nice without blocking the sweating) and shave their armpits, the earlier cancer is likely to appear.

What all this suggests is that using these products may make breast cancer more likely.

The doctor is very much aware there is no clear proof anti-perspirants or deodorants cause cancer, but with one in nine women developing the disease, it seems sensible to be cautious and not take unnecessary risks.

Of course, industry commentators dismiss this latest research and claim there is no evidence for a link between breast cancer and anti-perspirants.

Why take the risk? We are surrounded by carcinogens and we can handle a certain amount, so the sensible thing is not to add to your exposure unnecessarily.

And, with deodorants, once you get into the habit, you are going to use them every day for years, which means you build up a lot of exposure to a potential carcinogen.

The sensible thing is to cut down. Don’t use them every day — only at those times when you really feel a need. Then try alternating brands so you don’t keep on having exactly the same combination of chemicals.

Not wearing a deodorant every day is not as bad is it sounds, and it could even be good for you.

So, now that you know, govern yourself accordingly!

Your Blind Spot

Posted by youngaga On September - 21 - 2007Comments Off

Welcome back!

You are probably aware that we all have a blind spot, so here is a

short explanation of just what it is.

The optic nerve which connects to the back of the eye

near the macula, transmits electrical impulses from the

retina to the brain.

But, the optic nerve is not endowed with the retina’s

sensory receptor cells. Because of this, there is a spot

at the back of the eye which is ‘blind’!

Everyone has a blind spot. This is a perfectly normal

phenomenon, but nobody notices it because the vision of

both eyes overlaps. The better the coordination of your

eye muscles, the less likely the chances of you ever

discovering your blind spot.

There is a vision program that is designed to strengthen

and retrain your eye muscles in the same way as any other

muscle system is trained.

This program was developed from Orlin Sorensen’s cutting

edge knowledge and research and specifically focuses on

improving visual acuity in the following problem areas:

1)Aging Vision(Presbyopia)

2)Farsightedness(Hyperopia)

3)Nearsightedness(Myopia)

4)Astigmatism

In addition, the program gives you the

strongest guarantee; use it for

180 days, risk-free. If you are not happy for any reason

whatsoever, simply drop it in the mail and he will refund

you 100% of the purchase price (including shipping &

handling). You incur NO RISK at all.

No other programs offer such a guarantee!

Eye Exercises Proven Effective for Rebuilding Vision

Posted by youngaga On September - 20 - 2007Comments Off

Hello!

While it’s true that very few eye doctors offer instruction in

natural eye exercises that can dramatically improve your vision,

you should know that eye exercises have been PROVEN to

rebuild vision.

Natural vision therapy is recognized by:

*American Optometric Association

* Institute of Medicine of the National Academy

of Sciences

*Dictionary of Occupational Titles of the

Employment and Training Administration

*U.S. Public Health Service

*Department of Labor Employment and

Training Administration

*National Center for Health Statistics

*Bureau for Labor Statistics

*Department of Health and Human Services

*Association of Academic Health Centers

PLUS, 43 U.S. states recognize vision training in their

occupational definitions of optometry, AND natural vision

correction is recognized by many other agencies,

associations, notable experts, and organizations.

Here’s what leading experts in eye care say about

natural vision correction:

“The American Optometric Association affirms

its longstanding position that vision therapy is

an effective therapeutic modality in the treatment

of physiological dysfunctions of the vision system.”

–American Optometric Association, 1985

An article published in the American Journal of Optometry &

Physiological Optics summarized that “the literature provides

a solid base of research supporting vision therapy as an

effective treatment mode for accommodative deficiencies.

Vision therapy procedures have been shown to improve

accommodative function effectively and to eliminate or

reduce associated symptoms.”

–Rouse, 1987

“Symptoms were totally eliminated in 53% of the patients,

reduced in 43% and remained the same in only 4%.

Therefore … an overall success rate of 96%.

There is an impressive and increasing body of evidence attesting

to the trainability of accommodative function.”

(From a study of 96 patients with some type of accommodative

dysfunction who had completed a vision therapy program.)

–Irwin B. Suchoff, O.D., and Timothy G. Petito, O.D.  1986)

Journal of the American Optometric Association

Oysters improve Eyesight

Posted by youngaga On September - 19 - 2007Comments Off

Hi there!

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to hit the oyster bar,

you’ve  found the perfect reason to binge on oysters.

Oysters are the richest food source for zinc; and the latest

research  reveals that daily intake of zinc greatly reduces

the risk of age-related macula degeneration.

Red meat, poultry, beans, nuts, whole grains and dairy products,

are other good sources of zinc.

Another must-do vision correction strategy is to practice

The Rebuild Vision For Life Program. This program is designed to

strengthen and retrain your eye muscles in the same way

as any other muscle system is trained.

This program was developed from Orlin Sorensen’s cutting

A solution for myopia

Posted by youngaga On September - 19 - 2007Comments Off

Welcome back!

Early on in the development of senile cataract the power of

the crystalline lens may be increased, causing myopia, and

the gradual yellowing and opacification of the lens may

reduce the perception of blue colours.

Additionally, very advanced cataracts with weak zonules can

get dislocated, restoring some perception of light, causing

you to believe that there is an improvement in the eyes.

One must recognise these conditions for what they are - the

progression of the condition, not improvement.

Read more about non surgical treatment of cataracts at:

http://www.youngagainforever.com/cataracts.html

Some people with myopia try to sail through eye tests

by narrowing their eyes or squinting, in order to see

better for the few minutes it takes to complete the

eye tests.

Just think what you could do by taking up a scientific

set of eye exercises that have been especially designed

to improve myopia. The vision-for-life program is not

a solution that lasts a few minutes. It can teach you

to better your vision for always.

The fact is that many eye muscle problems are found

to respond dramatically to special eye exercises. So,

we’d advise you to try out the Rebuild Your Vision program

first, before considering other options.

This program is designed to strengthen and retrain your

eye muscles in the same way as any other muscle system

is trained…by working them out in a specific sequence.

The Rebuild Your Vision method has been developed from the

most recent & cutting edge knowledge and research and

specifically focuses on improvement of visual acuity

in the following problem areas:

1)Aging Vision(Presbyopia)

2)Farsightedness(Hyperopia)

3)Nearsightedness(Myopia)

4)Astigmatism

Vitamins E & C for a Healthy Heart

Posted by youngaga On September - 14 - 2007Comments Off

Hello there,

Please read this important message for the sake of your heart. The information is provided in an article by Galina Samitova.

Vitamins are very important when it comes to keeping your heart healthy. You need to eat the right foods of course, but you also need to supplement the food you eat with the vitamins necessary for your body to stay in shape and to keep your heart healthy.

Vitamin E is a vitamin that is essential to improving the overall health of your heart. Taken correctly, vitamin E will stop the cholesterol in the body from harming the arteries that surround the heart. Anytime cholesterol oxidizes, it sticks to the sides of the arteries and can lead to blockages. The blockages can cause heart attacks or other serious heart problems.

Eat foods that are naturally rich in vitamin E, such as nuts. Most nuts have high amounts of vitamin E. You can find other foods that contain vitamin E as well, although nuts are exceptionally rich in this vitamin.

Research has shown Vitamin E can help those who have already suffered a heart attack. This vitamin helps to prevent heart attacks in the future by opening up the arteries to eliminate blockage.

You can use vitamin C to boost the effects of vitamin E. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which prevents the damaging effects that cholesterol has on the body. Along with preventing cholesterol from damaging the body, vitamin C also helps vitamin E with its functions, including protecting your arteries and your heart.

By taking both vitamin C and E as a combination, you will be taking steps toward a healthier heart. This is the accepted way of protecting your heart. If you have a history of heart disease or heart problems in your family, these vitamins are essential to your diet.

As far as your dosage goes, it will vary from person to person, although 400 international units of vitamin E and C are the recommended amounts for most people.

Finally, you should always try to ensure that you get the proper amount of vitamins in your daily diet. Taking additional vitamins and supplements is usually helpful to your overall health. For more information on natural health supplements

Heart Healthy Benefit of Pistachios

Posted by youngaga On September - 13 - 2007Comments Off

Welcome to our blog!

Below are some excerpts from Daily Health News, a natural health newsletter we subscribe to.

If you love pistachio nuts, you’ll love this.

Adding a daily handful or two of pistachios to a heart-healthy diet may help decrease a person’s risk of cardiovascular disease, confirms Penny M. Kris-Etherton, PhD, distinguished professor in the department of nutritional sciences at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. In a recent study at Penn State, researchers found that pistachio nuts deliver heart benefits and may help people maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

Pistachios have a unique nutrient and fatty acid profile, explains study co-author Sarah K. Gebauer, a graduate student in Integrative Biosciences at Penn State. She told me that pistachios are naturally:

a.. Low in saturated fatty acids (SFA) and rich in the good fats — monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). Pistachio oil is low in saturated fatty acids and high in unsaturated fatty acids, including MUFA and PUFA. Other vegetable oils that are low in SFA and high in unsaturated fatty acids are soybean oil, canola oil, olive oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil and corn oil.

b.. One of the highest sources of phytosterols (plant components which have been shown to effectively reduce LDL cholesterol) in foods commonly consumed as snacks.

c.. Rich in disease-fighting antioxidants such as lutein, which is commonly known to be found in leafy green vegetables.

While this study was partially supported by the California Pistachio Commission, the findings are consistent with previous nutritional research data regarding pistachios — along with walnuts and almonds… these can be considered the body’s “nutty buddies.” As for the many times you couldn’t stop eating those pistachios because they tasted so good? Apparently your body knew best.

So keep snacking on those pistachios – in moderation.

Eggs & Spinach may protect from Blindness

Posted by youngaga On September - 12 - 2007Comments Off

Hello .

Here is a very interesting article from Yahoo News if you are worried about age-related vision problems.

Two nutrients found in eggs, spinach and other leafy green vegetables offer some protection against the most common cause of blindness among the elderly, researchers said on Monday.

Age-related macular degeneration affects 1.2 million Americans, mostly after age 65, and the irreversible condition gets gradually worse, robbing victims of the center of their vision. Many people may be susceptible due to genetic factors, while smoking is known to heighten the risk.

The two nutrients, lutein and zeaxanthin, are both carotenoids — compounds that give many fruits and vegetables a yellow color.

They help ward off the condition, apparently by allowing the eyes to filter harmful short-wavelength light and by curtailing other damaging effects to the macula, or the center of the eye’s retina, the researchers said.

“No clear associations with other nutrients were seen,” including the vitamins C and E and beta-carotene, according to the researchers, led by John Paul SanGiovanni of the National Eye Institute, one of the National Institutes of Health in Maryland.

The 6-year study asked about the dietary habits of 4,519 people aged 60 to 80 when enrolled.

Those in the top fifth of dietary consumption of foods containing the two nutrients had 35 percent less chance of developing the condition compared to those in the lowest fifth of consumption.

“Lutein and zeaxanthin may be considered as useful agents in food or supplement-based interventions designed to reduce the risk of AMD,” the researchers wrote in their report, published in the journal Archives of Ophthalmology.

Foods considered good sources of the nutrients include eggs, spinach, kale, turnip greens, collard greens, romaine lettuce, broccoli, zucchini, corn, garden peas and Brussels sprouts.

We hope you found this article useful.  For more information on improving your vision, and treating cataracts :

Care for Oily Skin

Posted by youngaga On September - 7 - 2007Comments Off

Hello!

Here’s some useful information if you have oily skin!

Most people think oily skin is a problem only teenagers have, and that’s simply not the case. Adults often continue having oily skin throughout their entire lives, and they suffer from the consequences of oily skin just like teenagers do with acne breakouts.

Fortunately, people with oily skin have one positive side effect of the condition; they tend to look younger than people who have dry skin.

Excessively oily skin is sometimes caused by hormonal imbalances in the body, and sometimes it’s caused by the products people use to try and control the oil. When we use harsh soaps and chemicals to strip away the oil from our faces, the body reacts by producing more. The body feels we need that extra oil on our face, and by taking it away with harsh cleansing products, we are simply telling the body to produce even more oil because it suddenly registers as too dry.

Using detergent-based soaps and harsh chemical cleansers will often leave your skin dry, irritated, red, and sometimes even make you break out in a rash. And when your body works harder to replace those oils, you often find yourself with even more skin problems than you had before trying those products.

Faces which are oily are more likely to have problems with acne breakouts. This is because the oils trap dirt, debris, and toxins in the pores and that allows bacteria to breed and create infections — pimples. So cleaning the face regularly is important to keep oil levels under control, as well as to keep bacteria and acne at bay.

Many people with oily facial skin find that simply rinsing or washing their face with plain water a few times a day is all that’s needed. Rinsing with water removes the dirt, keeps more grime from building up, and also removes a small amount of oil without stripping your face too dry.

There are natural and gentle cleansers that can be used to help control the oil in your face, keep it clean, and keep acne at bay. One of the best is pure aloe vera juice or gel. Aloe vera will help clean the pores and clear away dead skin cells too. The easiest way to use aloe vera for skin problems is to just rub it around on your face, let it dry, and leave it there all day.

Chickweed is one of the best herbs to use for chronic skin problems, because it helps soothe and heal at the same time. Mix it into tea and then rinse your face with it once or twice each day.

Visit http://www.youngagainforever.com/tooth-soap.htm for information on how to have a brilliant smile to go with that glowing skin.

Rinse your mouth after lemon juice

Posted by youngaga On September - 5 - 2007Comments Off

Hi there!

Here is a tip sent in by a reader, which makes a lot of sense.

It’s a good idea to always rinse your mouth out well with

potable water after consuming anything with a lot of lemon

juice, because the acids in lemons will begin to erode the enamel  on your  teeth!

The anonymous reader went through a period of craving for lemons and ate a lot of them.

“I soon started noticing the surface of my upper front teeth

were feeling “rough,” and to my dismay discovered the

enamel had been eroded. I had to have caps put on 3 teeth

because of that.”

The Warning Signs of a Heart Attack

Posted by youngaga On September - 4 - 2007Comments Off

Heart disease can be an insidious killer. The more we learn about it, the better our chances of avoiding it.

The American Heart Association informs us that coronary heart disease is America’s number one killer. Stroke is number three, as well as being a leading cause of serious disability.

To reduce your risk factors for cardiovascular disease, know the warning signs and know how to respond quickly and properly.

According to the AHA, some heart attacks are sudden and intense. However,  most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. People often aren’t sure what’s wrong and wait too long before getting help.

Here are some signs that can mean a heart attack is occurring:

    * Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.

    * Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.

    * Shortness of breath … with or without chest discomfort.

Other signs may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or light-headedness.

Women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting, and back or jaw pain.

Get Help!

Learn the signs, but even if you’re not sure it’s a heart attack, have it checked out. Minutes matter. Fast action can save lives. Don’t wait more than five minutes to call 9-1-1.

Calling 9-1-1 is almost always the fastest way to get lifesaving treatment. Emergency medical services staff can begin treatment immediately, often much sooner than getting to the hospital by car. Emergency personnel are also trained to revive someone whose heart has stopped. Patients with chest pain who arrive by ambulance usually receive faster treatment at the hospital, too.

Heart attack and stroke victims can benefit from cutting edge medications and treatments. Clot-busting drugs can stop some heart attacks and strokes in progress, reducing disability and saving lives. But to be effective, these drugs must be given relatively quickly after heart attack or stroke symptoms first appear.

Heart disease is closely related to various risk factors, some we can change, and some we cannot.

Risk factors we cannot control:

    * Increasing age. Eighty-three percent of those who die of heart disease are 65 or older.

    * Gender. More men have heart attacks than women.

    * Heredity. Family history and race make a difference. Statistically, blacks have higher blood pressure and greater risk of heart disease than whites.

Risk factors we can control:

    * Smoking. Stop.

    * Drinking alcohol. Drink in moderation.

Coffee may prevent Cancer

Posted by youngaga On September - 3 - 2007Comments Off

Hello there and welcome back to our Blog!

If you like your daily cup of coffee, here’s some interesting news that should elate you!

Is it just a coincidence that, in Asia, where consumption of coffee is low, health officials report the highest incidence of liver cancer in the world?

Meanwhile, in the U.S., where almost everyone drinks coffee, there are relatively fewer cases of liver cancer reported each year.

It appears that your daily cup of coffee could actually be protecting you from liver cancer.  More and more evidence from researchers concludes that it just might.

Research from Tohoku University in Japan combined data from two large studies that assessed coffee consumption in more than 60,000 subjects. Results showed that occasional coffee drinkers had 30 percent lower risk of liver cancer compared to subjects who didn’t drink coffee at all.

Risk was even lower for those who drank coffee daily, which confirms the results of another Japanese study that found regular coffee consumption to be linked with a significantly reduced risk of developing a type of liver cancer known as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

As reported in the International Journal of Cancer, when the Tohoku team singled out subjects who had a history of liver disease, they found a clear link between coffee intake and a lowered risk of liver cancer. The researchers called for further studies to examine the role that coffee might play in the prevention of liver cancer among high-risk patients.

In an issue of the journal Hepatology, researchers from the Institute of Pharmacology Research in Milan note that previous research reveals that caffeine and other coffee components have been shown to have beneficial effects on liver enzymes and may play a role in carcinogenic detoxification.

The Milan team conducted a meta-analysis of ten coffee studies that included six case-controlled studies from Japan and southern Europe, and four cohort studies from Japan. More than 2,200 patients with HCC were included in their analysis.

The combined data produced these results:

    * In case-controlled studies, risk of HCC was reduced by more than 45 percent on average

    * Subjects who drank the most coffee reduced HCC risk by 55 percent

    * Moderate coffee drinkers lowered HCC risk by 30 percent

    * Just one cup of coffee per day added to normal consumption reduced HCC risk by more than 20 percent

The Milan team also notes the importance of the similar results from a region where little coffee is consumed (Japan), and a region where the population consumes large amounts of coffee daily (southern Europe).

These are useful studies and make interesting conclusions. However, if you have liver problems, talk to your doctor about these studies before increasing your coffee intake.

Insomnia & Light Link

Posted by youngaga On September - 2 - 2007Comments Off

Hello, welcome back!

We gleaned this information on Insomnia from an article in an excellent natural health publication called Nutrition and Healing.

We believe that you will find it very interesting if you have problems sleeping!

“The truth is, most cases of insomnia are the result of bad habits such as too much caffeine, or too much external stimulation before bedtime. But even the cases that are based on an imbalance in your body can be solved without drugs. In fact, one new study that set out to help astronauts get over their jet lag after traveling to Mars came away with a simple solution that may also help insomniacs here on Earth.

It seems a bit counterintuitive, but increased exposure to light may just do the trick.

The study’s authors knew from previous research that not everyone has the same internal circadian rhythm: Some people are genetically predisposed to follow a 23.5 hour schedule, while others have a 24.5 internal schedule, and everything in between. That hour may not seem like a big deal, but it revealed a much bigger underlying difference between insomniacs and people who don’t have trouble falling asleep, that could help eliminate the agony of tossing and turning all night.

The researchers discovered that melatonin was released in people with shortened internal circadian rhythms four to five hours before they usually go to bed, making for an easy transition to sleep when the time comes. Those people with the longer internal clock, on the other hand, only released melatonin about an hour before their usual bedtime, which makes it much harder to fall asleep promptly.

However, when the longer-circadian-rhythm subjects were exposed to bright light for 45 minutes two times per day, their bodies adjusted to their longer internal clock, and allowed them to get the rest they needed without such a struggle.

Of course, if you’re battling insomnia, your best bet is still to look first at your sleep hygiene and make any improvements necessary. If those steps don’t offer the relief you need, there’s certainly no harm in trying this light-exposure technique.”

So now you know!
