HGH and hormone treatment??

Posted by youngaga On February - 28 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Another big question is whether hormone depletion has any effect
on physiological aging and whether HGH can be used to reverse
or counter the aging process.

Between the ages of 21 and 60 the amount of HGH released into
the body is said to drop by 80% or more! At age 40 we have 50%
of the human growth hormone level of our youth.

Science has yet to discover why depletion of hgh occurs. But as
far back as 1990, Dr. Daniel Rudman’s experiments, published in
‘The New England Journal of Medicine’, generated a lot of hope,
comment and hoopla.

These experiments were conducted on a test group, and involved
increasing the levels of HGH and monitoring the effects.

Since then HGH has been an area of continuous, sometimes
controversial, research. More on HGH at:

Nutritional supplements - are they any good?

Posted by youngaga On February - 27 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

This one is a controversial one, with as many views as there
are vitamins and supplements…..

Nutritional Supplements - Do We Really Need Them?

The puzzle of aging has undergone a partial deconstruct!
Most scientists believe that aging can be traced to cellular
damage caused primarily by the Free Radicals (unstable
oxygen molecules circulating in our blood).

These oxidize tissue much as rust attacks metal, although
other factors such as sun, alcohol or psychological stress
contribute.

With every breath you take, Free Radicals are produced in
your body. They attack surrounding proteins, fats and genes.
During your youthful years your body’s natural antioxidants
swiftly repair most of the damage.

But, once the reproductive years are over, nature lowers
your body’s defenses… its most important job, from
nature’s perspective, is done. Your body systems, thereon,
function less efficiently to counter the attacks by the
free-radicals, and damage accumulates rapidly.

In other words, aging is the result of oxidative stress, a
process in which the body literally rusts over time.
Medical science has proved that free radicals are involved
in more than 81 diseases, including heart and cardiovascular
disease, cancer, arthritis and the diseases we associate
with aging (like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other neuro-
degenerative disorders).

So what can you do? It makes sense to take preventative
measures using your knowledge of the newest treatments
and products available.

Antioxidants are the elements that fight the free radicals
that age our bodies and lower our defenses. Everyone who has
any interest in health will advise that all the vitamins,
minerals, elements that our bodies need should be ingested
through a correct selection of foods!
However, this does not always happen, although it is the
preferred way.

If your food does not give you the dosage required, you
should think seriously about using supplements to fill
deficiencies, which could lead to complex malfunctions of
the body systems.

There are significant savings on antioxidants and other
nutritional supplements being offered for a limited time.

Eat what you want & lose weight

Posted by youngaga On February - 24 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Thats right, eat what & when you want, but still lose weight!

The trick is to slow the pace of eating! One study found that eating slowly
was associated with greater weight loss for women in a weight-control program. And here are a few tips on how to go about it:

When you’re eating take smaller bites, put the knife and fork down frequently.

Talk more (remember, it’s not polite to talk with your mouth full!), and hone
the art of making conversation. Apart from losing weight you will also brush
up your social skills.

Stop eating, while there is still food on your plate. After a while you’ll feel full and lose interest in cleaning up your plate.

Don’t distract yourself by reading or watching TV while you’re eating.

Pay attention to what you’re eating. Notice the texture and temperature of the food and see if you can identify any spices that were used. Focus on your eating, and you’ll be satisfied with smaller quantities of food, even if you have a huge appetite.

It’s also possible to suppress your appetite !

Grapefruit is more than just breakfast!

Posted by youngaga On February - 21 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Hi there, everyone!

Are you worried about your cholesterol level?

Would you like to control it naturally?

Researchers, headed by Hebrew University, concluded that the lowly grapefruit can significantly reduce cholesterol levels. Red grapefruit is even more effective.

A red /pink grapefruit contains vitamin C, beta-carotene and lycopene and flavonoids. It also contains the citrus oil limonene and pectin.

What does all this mean in layman’s language?

In researchers’ guarded language, the grapefruit “may protect” against high cholesterol, bladder, cervical and pancreatic cancers, inhibit the formation of tumors, and protect the heart.

An important word of caution: If you are on any drug medication, consult your doctor before starting a daily diet of grapefruit. It can interact adversely with some drugs.

Pink grapefruit for breakfast anyone?

Do genes control spiritual experiences?

Posted by youngaga On February - 19 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Spiritualists and creative people might owe their special ways of thinking, seeing and doing to genes that give them special abilities - so say researchers and scientists studying genetic traits at the Hebrew University in Jeruselum.

Researching the effects of two genes - AVPRIA & CLOC6A4, they found them to be connected with the neuro-transmitter called Serotonin, which among a range of functions, also contributes to spiritual experiences.

Serotonin also contributes to an “altered state of consciousness” a pre-requisite for any spiritual experience.

Their study also suggests that people with a high level of these genes have altered serotonin levels which provide a creativity and spiritual outlook together with a heightened sense of communication.

Don’t be Afraid of the Dark

Posted by youngaga On February - 17 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Hello Subscribers & Visitors,

We have always stressed the importance of adequate sleep to your health. Well, here’s a new twist to the subject!

According to Ben Kim, the December 2005 issue of Cancer Research provides the following intriguing information that you may find very useful.

Researchers found that sleeping for several hours in nighttime darkness promotes a healthy blood level of a hormone called melatonin, which can significantly suppress the growth and proliferation of breast tumours.
This may account for why female night shift workers have a higher risk of developing breast cancer than the rest of the female population.

Equally significant, research also found that sleeping while exposed to light at night causes a dramatic drop in blood melatonin levels, setting the stage for growth and proliferation of breast cancer cells.

Could this partly explain why breast cancer is five times more common in industrialized nations compared to less developed countries? It may also explain why visually challenged people have lower rates of cancer than people who have no problems with vision.

So, turn out all the lights and enjoy a healthful, restful night.

Stay in good health, naturally.

Leptin -a magic cure for weight loss ?

Posted by youngaga On February - 17 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Ten years ago leptin was considered a miracle treatment for weight loss. However, although leptin injections worked to maintain the lost pounds AFTER weight loss, there was no effect during the actual process of losing weight, which had to be achieved by other means. And we all know how difficult the process of losing weight is!!

Analysing the process, weight loss doctors have said weight loss is a problem because the body fights against the cure - every time some loss of weight is achieved the body tries to build it up again. According to them,
” …. almost everyone can lose weight during the course of a short time span. So long as calories consumed are fewer than calories expended, they will lose weight …..”

Well for most of us , loss of some weight is the FIRST challenge, and only when this goal is met can one think of the challenges that lie further ahead … like maintaining the new, lower weight… and whether leptin is in fact the way to go to maintain body weight.

How to control High Blood Glucose Level

Posted by youngaga On February - 15 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Hello readers,

Here are some guides on controlling high blood glucose levels.
Have your doctor test your level if you are in doubt, as many are unaware that they may have a higher than desirable level. A glucose level above 150 would alert your doctor.

Our diet plays an important part in determining blood glucose levels, and your digestive system may need some help to absorb the nutrients in your food. We recommended black pepper to stimulate the acid in your stomach to aid digestion, but you may also need a digestive enzyme. Some natural digestive aids include papaya, pineapple and plain yogurt (with active bacterial cultures).

Make a real effort to eliminate empty carbohydrates, such as white flour and refined sugar. Try to avoid the bakery section altogether – block out the tempting aromas with a handkerchief as you pass! Don’t drink soda pop, as it is usually full of high fructose corn syrup. Don’t use artificial sweeteners as they have been linked to all sorts of side effects. If you must have a sweetener, use a natural one such as non-pasteurized honey or agave syrup.

Here is an important fact: Cinnamon is excellent when it comes to balancing your blood glucose. All it takes is a quarter teaspoonful of high quality cinnamon daily. Try it with oatmeal for a delicious nutritious breakfast or snack.

Be in good health, naturally,

Your sex appeal quotient

Posted by youngaga On February - 14 - 2006ADD COMMENTS

Believe it or not, your attraction quotient is
intertwined with the amount of oestrogen,
(the sex hormone) your body generates.

Not only that, your oestrogen count is very
visible to all!

So say researchers working on a study conducted
at the University of Scotland. Volunteers were asked
to rate photographs of a group of young women aged
between 15 to 25, based on feminity and overall
attractiveness. The results showed that in every case
the women rated the highest were the ones with the
highest oestrogen count.

Just think - your oestrogen count is as plain as the
nose on your face.

So make sure that you maintain it at the optimum
level required to maintain good health and sex
appeal. The Tibetan yoga exercises are designed
to maintain and balance flow of your natural
hormones.
