Violent movies affect problem solving

This post will strike a note of warning for all of you who are
movie buffs.

Neurologists studying the connection between various visual
stimulii and problem solving ability have found that
watching violent and emotion-charged scenes/visuals has a
stultifying effect on the ability to engage in problem-
solving tasks.

Experiments were conducted by showing two very different
genre of movies, ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (violent) and ‘Shrek’
(entertaining) to set up different moods in the viewers.
They were then asked to complete various analytical and
problem-solving tasks.

The findings of the study showed that non-stressed
participants performed infinitely better, and that visuals
that showed violence caused extreme stress- and had an
adverse effect on analytical ability and performance.

But there is computer game that has been designed to hone
problrm solving ability. It’s great for the whole family!
Entertaining and challenging, it will be used constructively,
again and again!

Deepak Chopra has highly recommended this soothing yet
challenging brain exercising tool to improve your problem
solving abilities. A Brain exercise tool that makes an
entertaining gift that will be used again and again to
improve the mind.

Here is just one testimonial:

[This is] much more than a game; it’s a tool for the Mind-
Body work we value. It certainly has proven so with me - and
it’s a hit with my patients. It’s an outstanding product and
since it’s amazingly inexpensive, I encourage my patients to
use it as home practice. It’s complex and challenging enough
that no one has gotten tired of using it.”
